VERBA M-series feed trough for fattening pigs and piglets
A porridge feeder for pigs is a feeder in which the pig itself dispenses the dry feed into the feeder via a valve mechanism. The pig can then use the drinking nozzle on the feeder to mix the dry feed with water to make porridge.
In the early 1980s, Bert Verbakel, a former pig farmer and founder of Verba, invented the slurry feeder for pigs. This has been continuously refined to become the current M-series pig feeder. As a result, the M-series feeders for fattening pigs and piglets are the only truly original pig feeders.

The optimal feed dose for pigs is 4 grams per gate movement.
Robust design and installation
A pig feeder must be securely mounted at the rear and fixed to the floor with corner fittings. Preferably in a corner of the pigsty. Double pig feeders are available in ‘side-by-side’ and ‘back-to-back’ models, allowing larger groups of pigs to be fed. The light-coloured interior of the Verba pig mash feeders ensures better feed intake and makes it easier to maintain hygiene.
Various models and uses
The M19100 pig slurry feeders are suitable for feed in the form of pellets, granules and crumbs, whilst the MU19100 pig slurry feeders are suitable for feed in the form of meal. The recommended number of pigs per slurry feeder is slightly higher than for a dry feed feeder, as the pigs spend less time eating due to the availability of water. This reduces feeding time by 17 per cent and decreases the number of feedings by 39 per cent ((source: ILVO/varkensloket.be).

The independent research According to a study by the Hillsborough Agricultural Research Institute (2001), the best feed conversion is achieved in pigs using the Verba feeder. These feed conversion figures were significantly better than those for all other pig feeders.
