Speedfeeder

The Speedfeeder is a feeding trough for larger groups of pigs. The feed is dispensed via a unique metering mechanism made entirely of 304 stainless steel, whereby the piglets or fattening pigs push against a flap without realising it whilst eating. Thanks to the unique operation of the flap and the stainless steel round bar fitted to the front of the flap, the feed flap cannot become clogged with feed, which is sometimes a problem with other slurry feeders. The stainless steel flap dispenses small portions of feed.

Description

The ideal pig feeder: the Verba speedfeeder for fattening pigs and piglets

As former pig farmers, we understand the key aspects of an optimal pig feeding system. That is why we have combined the best features of various pig feeding systems into a single feeding trough for fattening pigs and piglets. Pig farmers worldwide use the Verba speedfeeder.

Benefits and applications

The speedfeeder, a pig feeder with a flap system, is suitable for larger groups of pigs. This pig feeder works particularly well with coarser feed such as pellet feed, granulated feed or crumb feed. The unique feed-dosing mechanism, made entirely of 304 stainless steel, ensures that whilst eating, the piglets or fattening pigs push against the flap without realising it, causing small portions of feed to be dispensed. This prevents the feed flap from becoming clogged, a problem that can occur with other slurry feeders.

Spill-proof design and feed conversion

There is a clever anti-spill rim at the front of the stainless steel trough, and anti-spill bars are welded to the side. This design minimises feed wastage and helps to ensure optimal feed conversion, which helps to reduce costs. What’s more, the white, transparent pig feeder makes it easy to check the amount of feed during your rounds. Each pig feeder has two separate dispensing systems, allowing two pig pens to be fed independently.

Installation and commissioning

You can easily install this pig feed trough into plastic or concrete partition walls thanks to the various stainless steel U-profiles available. The feed flow is precisely adjusted using a spindle, which does not move out of position. As a result, the valve always dispenses the correct amount of pig feed. The optimal dosage is 4 grams per valve movement. As the valve does not shift when pushed hard, this prevents feed wastage and saves you money.

Integrated water supply system and installation

This Verba Speedfeeder pig feeder features a 1/2″ stainless steel water pipe with just one riser pipe, to which four stainless steel Verba drinking nipples are connected. This water system ensures low connection costs. The Speedfeeder pig feeder comes with a lid as standard. This pig feeder is assembled in our factory using A2 stainless steel M8 bolts with lock nuts. Always keep the Speedfeeder filled so that the pigs have unlimited access to feed and are not rationed.

35 cm cutting width

When manufacturing new Speedfeeder 80 feeders for fattening pigs, we can switch from 2 x 3 to 2 x 2 feeding bays. This provides an effective internal feeding width of more than 35 cm per feeding bay. This modification complies with various standards and welfare requirements, such as the Beter Leven 1-Star standard, which will come into force in the Netherlands from 2030. With this modification, we not only provide more space for the pigs whilst they are eating, but also ensure that new pig feeders meet the strictest welfare standards.
